Le Dragon

A la fin des années vingt, à l’occasion d’un concours de plans, l’architecte norvégien Johan Anker conçoit un élégant voilier pour la course et la croisière côtière. Très rapidement, grâce à ses qualités nautiques et ses performances, le Dragon apparaît comme un bateau de régate idéal, tant et si bien qu’il devient le quillard officiel des jeux Olympiques en 1948, statut qu’il gardera plus de vingt ans. Modernisé au fil des saisons sans pour autant perdre sa monotypie, ce voilier aux lignes d’une grande pureté a su défier les modes et fidéliser une clientèle de fins barreurs et d’amoureux des belles carènes. Aujourd’hui, grâce à une flottille toujours dynamique, la grande famille des dragonistes se livre des bagarres acharnées, mais toujours empreintes d’un savoir-vivre digne des premiers temps du yachting.

The Dragon

At the end of the 1920s, the Norwegian yacht designer Johan Anker designed an elegant sailing boat for racing and coastal cruising. Quickly, thanks to its nautical qualities and its performance, the Dragon appeared as an ideal racing  boat, so much so that it became the official keelboat of the Olympic Games in 1948, and kept that distinction for over 20 years. Modernised over time without losing its one-design status, this sailboat with its pure lines has defied fashion and won the loyalty of a clientele of fine helmsmen and lovers of beautiful hulls. Nowadays, though a dynamic flotilla present in many countries, the great family of Dragon sailors continues to engages into fierce battles, without ever loosing a savoir-vivre worthy of the early days of yachting.
